This policy explains what DeerHunt.ai collects, why, and the choices you have. We treat your hunting locations as sensitive and minimize how they’re handled.
Information we collect
- Account: your email, name, and avatar, provided via our authentication provider (Clerk) when you sign in.
- Hunting data you create: saved locations and map coordinates, markers, property boundaries, hunt logs, trail-cam entries, and alert settings.
- Billing: if you subscribe, our payment processor (Stripe) handles your card details. We store only a customer/subscription reference and plan status — never card numbers.
- Usage: limited operational logs and, where enabled, aggregate product analytics and error reports.
How we use it
- To compute conditions and generate strategy for the locations you choose.
- To provide accounts, subscriptions, and prime-conditions alert emails you opt into.
- To operate, secure, debug, and improve the Service.
How your location data is handled
Coordinates are sensitive. We round coordinates in cache keys, avoid logging raw coordinates, and only send the minimum necessary to third-party providers to compute conditions for a point you select. We do not sell your location data.
Third-party processors
- Clerk — authentication and identity.
- Stripe — subscription payments.
- Anthropic — the AI strategist receives a trimmed, computed conditions summary for the point you analyze to generate strategy. It is not used to advertise to you.
- MapTiler — map tiles and geocoding search.
- Open-Meteo / elevation providers — weather and terrain for a selected point.
- Resend (if enabled) — sends the alert emails you subscribe to.
- Sentry / PostHog (if enabled) — error monitoring and aggregate product analytics, configured to avoid raw coordinates.
Cookies
We use cookies necessary to keep you signed in (set by our auth provider). If product analytics are enabled, a consent banner lets you opt out of non-essential analytics.
Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your locations, logs, trail cams, alerts, usage, and subscription records are removed, and we request deletion of your identity record from our auth provider.
Your rights
- Access / portability: download everything we store about you from your account(“Export my data”).
- Erasure: delete your account and all associated data from your account page at any time.
- Depending on where you live (e.g. GDPR/CCPA), you may have additional rights; contact us to exercise them.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We’ll post updates here with a new date. Material changes will be highlighted.
